Catholics struggling for integrity in our Church

Pray that Pope Benedict XVI will make decisions reflecting the need to protect children first.

On 2-8-05 Bishop Grahmann said he wanted to be "totally transparent" regarding the handling of sexual abuse allegations within the Diocese.  If that is true why does he continue to ignore questions about that issue that have been sent to him?

Why does he not invite and answer such questions at a public meeting?  If such a meeting is too uncomfortable, why not do the same thing online, publishing the answers on the Diocesan Web site?

The sections on the Diocesan web site that were dedicated by the Diocese to "The Truth" in this issue have apparently been closed. That web site was at www.cathdal.org/thetruth.htm in 2003.  It cannot now be located online. A web location with an ongoing dialogue between the Dallas Catholics and Bishop Grahmann could provide a relaxing and comfortable place for Bishop Grahman to respond to questions.  It could provide a very positive and healing place, unless the truth is something less than comforting.

"If the scourge of sexual abuse is to be effectively eliminated, then the energy of the whole Church needs to be directed to this end."

Demonstrations at the Dallas Chancery, spring of 2003.

Bishop Grahmann admitted under oath in 1997 that 5 years earlier he warned Fr. Rudy Kos:
"Don't have the little boys overnight ... I'll move you if you do"
*

What if a lawsuit had never been filed to stop Rudy Kos, and instead Bishop Grahmann had moved Fr. Rudy Kos into your parish where he almost certainly would have again molested? Maybe molesting a child you love?

Bishop Grahmann refuses to respond in any way other than silence to questions. Do not we as parents, and as Catholics, have a responsibility to ask questions?
